Taking the Year Off - See You In 2022!

Hello, friends! Guy, Sharrie, Jae and I all had a discussion about whether to go ahead with our 2021 Florida Gulf Coast Dulcimer Retreat and Castaway Music Cruise, or to postpone until 2022. Richard Ash, of retreat sponsor Folkcraft Instruments, and I also had a dialogue about how to move forward. Due to the ongoing uncertainty with the coronavirus, we decided to take 2021 off and plan for the retreat and cruise in 2022. We came to this conclusion with heavy hearts, but we also feel that this will just build up more excitement for our next go round and we're already looking forward to it! All registrations have been refunded and Sharrie has been in contact with our cruisers to figure out plans for booking a new sail. We do not yet have anything set up at the Florida Cracker Riverside Resort, but we're hoping that those who had room reservations can apply them to the next time around. Registration Is OPEN!

Hello, everyone!

Around this time each year, we open registration for The Florida Gulf Coast Dulcimer Retreat, sponsored by Folkcraft Instruments, and we're happy to be doing it again for our 9th year - February 25th - 28th, 2021!

We're still eight months out, and we're remaining hopeful that the retreat will take place, safely, at The Florida Cracker Riverside Resort in Homosassa Springs.  The coronavirus will no doubt still be a concern in the late winter, which is why we're going to be limiting the number of registrations available.  We'll be conducting temperature checks at registration and social distancing precautions will be in place for workshops and the concert (which will be closed to the public for the first time!)

We want everyone to have a fun, educational, relaxing and safe experience with us on the river!

That said, if we decide to cancel the retreat, all registrations will be refundable so you can go ahead and plan with peace of mind.  If cancellation becomes a possibility, we'll do our very best to make the call early enough so that your travel arrangements can be changed with minimum expense.

Workshop descriptions will appear later this summer and you can subscribe to this page in order to receive updates.  We're looking forward to seeing you again and sharing some wonderful musical times in Old Florida!

It truly was a magical time! Thanks to Guy & Sharrie George, Richard & Aly Ash and Jae Futch for all of the planning, hard work and fantastic energy! Thanks to our fabulous helpers, volunteers and 2nd camera folks for going above and beyond!

And very special thanks to everyone who joined us for the retreat or cruise or both! There were so many extraordinary moments that you shared with us, and this video features just a few of them, from workshops, jams and fun meals to cruise ship flash-mobs, shore excursions and lots of sweet music. THANK YOU for a fun week in Homosassa!

What an AWESOME week!  Our 8th Annual Florida Gulf Coast Dulcimer Retreat was another wonderful week on the Homosassa River with workshops, jams, concerts and great food. Thanks to everyone who joined us for the fun!

We're happy to say that we'll be back in 2021 at the newly-christened Florida Cracker Riverside Resort and we're looking forward to working with the new owners as we celebrate our 9th year in this uniquely Old Florida setting!

The dates for next year are February 25th - 28th, 2021.  There's still time to go all in and join us right after the retreat for our 4th Annual Castaway Music Cruise!

We're a little more than a month away from the retreat and we're all very excited to see you down here in sunny, warm Florida!

Just giving you a heads-up that we'll be making all of the workshop materials available online, so you can either print them out and bind them, or download them to your tablet.  We'll be sending all registrants a password-protected Dropbox link where you can access PDF files for all the workshops from all four instructors!
